What to wear to a summer wedding?
The signs of spring have finally arrived, it’s a joy to see blossom and sunshine. Time to start thinking ahead about what to wear to a summer wedding this year?
Summer party planning has begun, and if it’s a 2024 summer wedding, the planners will be in full swing.
Save the dates have been issued, invitations are being designed, the marquee and furniture may have been ordered – but if not. Don’t panic we can help with that, we have a large selection of affordable marquees, seating from 36 to 190. And we can do all the extras – so if you need sound and lighting or karaoke, paella for a party, commercial BBQ, popcorn machine or a chocolate fountain we are the ones to speak to!
But if you’ve got your venue and now need to add the wow factor – our candelabra, table centre pieces, chair covers, sashes and bows can add the finishing touches to any venue – use us to tie in your colour theme or add a bit of sparkle to your tables.
However if it’s what to wear that’s on your mind, we have been looking at some top tips for the ultimate 2024 summer wedding outfit.
You don’t have to spend a fortune and it is acceptable to wear the same outfit again. We explore the top 2024 ideas.
Firstly, outfit repeating – not only better for the planet, but easier on the finances. Did you know – wearing your existing outfits/clothes 50 times instead of 5, reduces carbon emissions by 400 per cent per item, per year.
There is a trick to wearing the same item over and over again, and it is to make it fresh looking each time.
You could begin by building what’s called a ‘capsule wardrobe’ this is a range of timeless/stylish basics. Then be creative with your accessorising, different shoes, bags and jewellery can really revamp an outfit, try cinching the waist with a new belt or think about adding a scrunchie, fascinator or silk scarf to your hairstyle to create a completely different look.
Always think about the focus of your outfit – it could be the stunning drop earrings or patterned socks! And next time it may be a diamanté belt or brightly coloured handbag.
Outfit repeating is very on-trend, so don’t worry about someone noticing you in the same thing twice – wear it with pride, you are doing the best for the planet – isn’t a repeat outfit actually a well-earned encore! You’re in good company with celebrities like Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama, Kate Moss, Cate Blanchett, Gwyneth Paltrow, Keira Knightley and Hailey Beiber to name but a few.
But if it’s new to you it still doesn’t have to break the bank. Whatever you choose to wear just be aware of three important rules –
- Don’t spend more than you can afford – shopping on a budget does not limit your options, cheaper new, worn once and second-hand options have never been easier to find.
- Be true to your personal style – if you hate dresses, don’t force yourself to wear one just because it’s deemed ‘appropriate summer wedding etiquette’.
- Don’t worry about what other people think, chances are they won’t even notice even less judge. Don’t forget they’ve been making the same decisions for their own outfit!
With most weddings falling between June and October, our unpredictable weather can make an outfit chose even trickier. Getting something that will keep you cool on a hot day but then warm later when the evening draws in is not always easy. Natural fabrics such as cotton, silk, linen and wool can all be used for cooling and warming outfits. A wool-silk blend is a good option for warmer destinations. Tried and tested layers always work.
